"If you want something to change, start now! You don't have to wait until the new year", which is true, but I feel each new year forces a new chapter to our lives regardless if we want to associate it with a new year or not.
2024 was the year of challenges for most - that seems to be the census. I am definitely not excluded from that. This year was a year of many highs and many lows. I was sold the idea that this year was my year and that I would be fully blessed, but my expectations fell short.
I was blessed to have bought my first home - a goal of mine for 4 years!.. except, it has been an absolute nightmare of discovering multiple major issues and becoming quite the money pit. I was blessed to find many amazing deals for my house, but throwing out money for major expenses. I have been blessed to be in a relationship with my best friend, but we have faced many obstacles that shook our bond, but also built it to become much stronger than ever. I have made the most money ever in my life, but I've also been the most broke I've ever been in, due to this house, economy and mortgage. I've landed a dream job of receiving consistent coaching clients and working with those of all ages, but this has been the busiest I've been in years. Working two jobs, I have had a hard time balancing my work-life schedule and never got to enjoy my summer due to money and time. It was the year of major swings!
Again, I am not excluded from experiencing major hiccups and a year of many trials. As a life coach, I have learned many coping skills over the years that I share with my clients, but I have also been challenged in my own life which has forced me to pivot and learn new ways to cope and handle stress. So, my tests in life have been much deeper than the surface of money issues, house repairs & renovations. It has been emotional, and mental challenges as well. I've also had a rough year staying consistent at the gym. My health has strung me like a yo-yo.
So, what have I learned through all of this?
Don't ever allow anyone or anything to steal your peace - Happiness can be found in small things, such as cup of coffee or finding $5 in your jean pocket. Those are temporary moments of fulfillment, but peace is lasting and should be protected
Save money that you'll never dip in no matter what - I wish that I was smarter with my money this year. I could have made some major passive money, but I didn't take the right risks. I took risks on materialistic items for my house, rather than investing in great opportunities of passive income
Communicate always, even when it could bring conflict - Not all conflict is bad, look at them as opportunities to stand for yourself, your beliefs, morals and for who you are! Also, to find resolutions in the problems you may have. You may never know the results you could receive if you never speak up
No matter what you're going through, there's always something to be thankful for - My house that I bought maybe in shambles, but I have a safe place for my son and I to live at currently. I may have been faced with many trials in my relationship, but it helped us grow stronger together. I maybe broke at the moment, but I will not stay here - I never do! I may had struggled with my work-life balance, but I learned different techniques to balance it better. There may be days where it was hard to get up in the morning, but I would smile at the sun and be grateful for another day above ground.
Grace - You can never predict what obstacles you will face, and many of them will shake everything you thought you knew. Give yourself grace! Grace will help you breeze through the challenges of not knowing what to do at the moment while knowing you are doing the best you can at your best given capability! We are all learning beings, there's plenty more to learn, so give patience and compassion to yourself as you navigate new skills through life's lessons.
So, what do you think 2025 will bring? Does it even matter?
My expectations and the signs I thought I read for 2024 taught me to not expect anything. The only things to expect will be more lessons to learn, more opportunities to grow, there will be money to be made, many more moments of grace needed and lots of goals to lock down and work hard towards.
No matter the year to come, you should still have goals and hold patience through it all. It is time to create short term and long term goals. Don't get discouraged if you don't meet them at the time you expected, just be grateful for the steps you did take, the lessons you learned and the continued skill you are trying to master in discipline and self development.
No matter what the year brings, make this one your year! You cannot be shaken!
